| Ngozi Inc. presents the 18th Annual International African Family Festival, a two-day outdoor festival, celebrating African culture, heritage and tradition. "A colorful world of arts, heritage and entertainment for families in Central Pennsylvania and surrounding areas" Dates: Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29, 2008 Location: Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts Reservoir Park – 100 Concert Drive "United We Stand: Reclaiming Our Heritage" is the recurring theme. Thousands look forward to this family celebration each year, which highlights African culture, tradition and heritage. Activities start Saturday from 7:00 PM-10:00 PM featuring "Jazz’in at the Levitt", a live jazz concert. Music lovers bring your blankets and lawn chairs for a relaxing evening of good jazz music and food concessions. Sunday from 12:00 noon - 8:00 PM will feature a colorful and vibrant African Marketplace, international foods booths, local community non-profits and businesses are available with helpful information and children’s activities. Live performances throughout the day include Jazz, R&B, Hip-hop, Dance, Steppers, and much more. One of the featured groups is The Don Johnson Project playing a mix of blues, soul and funk. An art exhibition will be held in Reservoir Park Mansion titled "Creative Use of TIME" featuring the skilled and talented works of Black male artists. All events are drug and alcohol-free, held rain or shine, and are free of charge and open to the entire public. No pets are permitted in the park except for service animals. Sponsors: Creations of Family Muhammad’s, City of Harrisburg Dept. of Parks & Recreation, PA Council on the Arts (PPA), The Cultural Enrichment Fund, PA Dept. of Community & Economic Development/PA Tourism, Dauphin County Office of Commissioners and various Corporate Sponsors to be announced. Ngozi Inc. is currently seeking corporate sponsorships, vendors, non-profits and businesses interested in booth space. Advertisements for the program booklet are also available. |
